Hannah Rose Nutrition

Hannah Baugh
BSc PGCert RNutr SENR

Born in Yorkshire, I now live in Newport, South Wales with my partner Elliott and French Bulldog Mila. I moved to Cardiff in 2011 to complete my undergraduate degree in Sports Biomedicine and Nutrition… and during my studies I fell in love with Wales, so it has since become my permanent home! More recently I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Leeds Beckett University, topping up my knowledge and keeping up to date with the best methods for supporting my clients.

I am a Registered Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition, and a Sports Nutritionist registered with the British Dietetics Association. My career so far has seen me work in food manufacturing… hello delicious M&S meals and Nestle goodies! Here I support with recipe development, and improving the nutritional profile of products and menus. I’ve also spent time in the catering sector… think schools, hospitals, and workplace restaurants, where I provided nutritional support for adults and children with allergies or medical conditions. And because I like to keep busy…I also work with one-to-one clients, providing support for managing health, weight and exercise or sports ambitions.

To know them is to love them — and feed them well. At Ollie, we get to know who your dog is to design a meal plan made for them.

Made with quality ingredients

High-quality food with no by-products or funky fillers.

Formulated just for them

Delivered to your door

Cooked in small batches, Ollie arrives fresh and right on time.

When I’m not at work you’ll often find me snuggled up on the sofa with Mila, or out exploring the Welsh countryside and coast. The beach is my happy place, so despite the rain and cold weather that comes with living here, it is a beautiful place to get out and blow away the cobwebs. Wherever I am, you’ll never find me far from food! I love a hearty roast dinner in a cosy pub, or a homemade pizza with friends in the beautiful summer sunshine. I would definitely call myself a foodie, and find that some of my best memories are linked to shared experiences around food. That enjoyment is something I want every one of my clients to have with their own food journeys.

So, whether you want help for yourself or a loved one, advice for healthy family friendly meals, or preparation for a sporting event, then get in touch to chat judgement free!

My Principles & Values

Food anxiety and food fear is very real, and sadly all too common, but in my anti-diet approach to food I strongly believe that food is a tool for good, and when used correctly, it can help us to feel the best version of ourselves. This is why I always refer back to my 5 principles and values, which shape the way I practice nutrition, and how I support my clients.

Food is essential for living, and should never be used as a tool for shame, disappointment, or punishment. All too often we focus on the negative impact of foods rather than celebrating the good that it does. It is important to remember that food is fuel for the body, and should be championed as such. Working with clients, I always highlight the importance, and benefit of including a variety of food from across all food groups in our diets.

Social media and age old practices have drummed certain habits into us, but that’s not to say they are correct or even safe! Take the suggestion that carbohydrates are bad… in my world carbohydrates are king! Regardless of a client’s nutrition and lifestyle goals, the advice and support that I provide will always put your health as top priority. My recommendations and nutritional interventions are always developed based on scientific research, and aim to support or improve your health, alongside the specific goals that you’ve asked for my help with. This means no crash diets, no cutting out major food groups (unless there is a medical requirement), but does mean eating delicious food that helps you to feel great!

NB. Before embarking on a new diet or making significant lifestyle changes, I would always encourage you to seek out professional support. The information I share on my website or social pages is no replacement for personalised, professional medical, psychological, or nutritional advice.

I firmly believe in living a healthy and balanced lifestyle: no fad diets, no “banned” foods and no expensive “superfoods”. That’s right, I’m putting keto, paleo, skinny pills and juice diets straight in the bin!! One problem with a traditional diet is that it is short-term, and that’s not how life works! To benefit from a diet or lifestyle change that can really change your life, it needs to be long-term, affordable, and enjoyable or else what’s the point?!

In my opinion, an understanding of food, nutrition and being confident in the kitchen are all life skills that should be taught in school. Unfortunately, this isn’t commonplace, and can result in the kitchen being a daunting and stressful place for many people. That’s why the nutrition support that I provide, starts with the basics… always aiming to improve your confidence and enjoyment of cooking, and trying new foods. Similarly, I don’t provide recipes that expect you to have fancy equipment or the latest kitchen gadgets, and I will always adapt my recommendations to fit with your kitchen set up.

Everything we eat has an impact on the planet, be it good or bad. I think it is important, now more than ever, that we not only eat food that is good for us, but also, good for the planet. I know that talk about climate change can make us feel pretty helpless, but we can make a difference. By championing seasonal, local produce, as well as responsibly and sustainably sourced meat and fish, we can make choices that benefit our health as well as that of the planet.
